"National British Curriculum"
Throughout all stages, our curriculum is aligned with the National British Curriculum, ensuring continuity and progression in learning outcomes across subjects and year groups. We maintain appropriate adult-pupil ratios to support personalised learning and ensure that every student receives the attention and guidance they need to thrive academically and socially.
Early Years Foundation Stage (PLAY and LEARN):
This stage includes Toddlers, Pre-Nursery, Nursery, and Reception classes. Students follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, which is play-based and balances ‘child-initiated’ and ‘adult-initiated’ activities. Play is viewed as natural science experiments where young students experiment with different ideas and concepts. EYFS classes are supported by a qualified teacher and teaching assistant, ensuring personalised attention and guidance during these crucial developmental years.
Key Stage 1 (Explore and Evaluate):
Years 1 and 2 mark the transition from Early Years to primary education. Our structured environment supports children in exploring new learning opportunities while introducing foundational skills in reading, writing (using a combination of Jolly Phonics and Floppy Phonics), and White Rose Mathematics. We maintain a balance between play-based learning and the development of language skills that enable children to evaluate their learning experiences effectively and build independence in their learning journey.
Key Stage 2 (Enquire and Consolidate):
Years 3 to 6 nurture children’s innate curiosity through enquiry-based learning. Students are encouraged to explore the world by asking questions and investigating topics deeply. We continuously strengthen their numeracy and literacy skills, empowering them to become self-directed learners who can build upon their abilities and achieve more. Learning spaces in KS2 are designed to foster collaborative learning and critical thinking, equipped with resources that support hands-on exploration and group activities.
Key Stage 3 (Investigate and Innovate):
In Years 7, 8, and 9 (KS3), our curriculum further develops students’ critical thinking and independent learning skills. Aligned with the National British Curriculum, we encourage students to investigate complex concepts, analyse information, and innovate solutions. Learning spaces in KS3 are designed to facilitate deeper exploration and experimentation, providing students with opportunities for project-based learning and interdisciplinary studies that prepare them for the challenges of Key Stage 4 and beyond.
Language opens up the world of reading, providing children with the opportunity to experience literature from all around the globe, learn about their own and other cultures, enrich their learning, build their knowledge and immerse themselves in their imagination. Through reading, children can explore and learn more about the topics that interest them. It allows children to access and understand the ideas of others across all subjects.
